First Day School and Young Friends
At Wilmington Monthly Meeting, children,
who may be members, visitors or
attenders, attend meeting for worship for the first fifteen
minutes. At 10:15 a.m., they leave meeting for worship to
gather with other children of similar ages in classes that
deal with a wide variety of activities, such as
Quaker studies, Bible study, environmental study, community
outreach, singing, creative projects or group discussion.

Using a traditional Quaker term, Friends
call the children's activities "First Day School."
Parents are welcome to bring the youngest children (Pre-K
and younger) to the pre-school room as early as 10:00 a.m.,
where they can sign in and have free play time until 10:15
A.M. Songs, circle games, reading books, and related arts
and crafts take place from 10:15 - 11:00 a.m. In nice weather,
a period of play and exploration outside is encouraged. Snacks
and juice
are usually provided between 10:45-11:00 a.m.
Parents or guardians are asked to pick up their children no later than 11:15 a.m. |
Young Friends Young Friends is the Quaker youth group (high school ages) for the
Philadelphia Yearly Meeting area. They have weekend gatherings about once a
month, usually at the Burlington Meeting Conference Center in Burlington,
New Jersey. Young Friends is a wonderful, open place promoting community,
